LAND SEA RATIO
Muslim websites tell of the land-sea ratio “mathematical miracle” revealed in the Quran. Quran verses use the word “land” 12 times. Quran verses use the word “sea” 42 times.
The % of times the word “land” is used is 22% [or 24% if you count 2 occurrences in the same verse as only 1 occurrence].
Dishonest Muslim websites raise this to 14/53 = 26% by falsely claiming verses 98:6 and 98:7 contain the word “land”.
One website falsely claims 28.8889%, which is close to the actual value of  28% to 30%.

LAND SEA RATIO
Muslim websites tell of the land-sea ratio “mathematical miracle” revealed in the Quran. Quran verses use the word “land” 12 times. Quran verses use the word “sea” 42 times.

The % of times the word “land” is used is calculated as 12/(12+42) = 22% [or 24% if you cheat by counting 2 occurrences in the same verse as only 1 occurrence].
But 24% is much less than the 29% of the Earth’s surface that is covered with land.

If you do a Google search on “l-baḥru quran arabic corpus”, it provides a list of 42 times that the word sea is used.

DISHONEST TRANSLATION OF VERSES 98:6 AND 98:7
Dishonest Muslim websites raise this to 14/53 = 26% (which still does not reach 29%) by adding “land” to their own translation of l-bariyati in verses 98:6 and 98:7, an interpretation that does not occur in any of the Quran translations at http://islamawakened.com/quran/98/6/

DISHONEST COUNT

One way to make the numbers match is to falsely count the number of times land and sea occur. If you count only 32 of the 42  times sea is used, and dishonestly count the number of times land is used as 13 instead of the actual count of 12, then the ratio is calculated as 13/(13+32) = 28.8889%

The Muslim claim that the % of the Earth’s surface covered by land is also precisely 28.8889% is a silly claim.

There is no exact statistic of how much of the Earth’s surface is covered by land. Estimates by scientists range from 28% to 30%.
