LOOK AT 4:24 OF DISHONEST VIDEO
Skip to 4:24 of video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZDe9DCx7Wk which tells many lies to a group of young British students.

VIDEO EXPOSING THE DISHONESTY
A video by StopSpamming2 about the dishonesty of 1001 Inventions is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4qHdQEYYss

CAMERA OBSCURA
Actually, the camera obscura was invented by the Chinese and used by the ancient Greeks and by the ancient Byzantines.

ATTACHING FEATHERS TO HIS ARMS AND FLAPPING HIS ARMS UP AND DOWN
Ibn Firnas is said to have flown by attaching feathers to his arms and flapping his arms (which is not possible). The original Muslim sources made no mention of any stiffening material or of anything being attached to his back. There was no hang glider frame. He did not invent the airplane. Children who have seen this video were duped into thinking a Muslim had invented the airplane.

AL-JAZARI ‘S GREATEST INVENTIONS WERE COPIED FROM THE GREEKS, ROMANS, AND BYZANTINES
Most of al-Jazari’s inventions were copied from the Greeks and Romans. His water pumps were nearly identical to those of the Romans.

AL-JAZARI’S IMPROVEMENTS TO WATER CLOCKS PLAYED NO ROLE IN THE INVENTION OF PENDULUMS OR MAINSPRINGS
Al-Jazari played no role in the European Christian invention of the verge escapement that made the pendulum clock and the spring clock

Muslims did not invent the astrolabe or the crank.

OLIVIA STERNS OF CNN WAS DUPED
Olivia Sterns obviously obtained her information about Muslim inventions from the 1001 Inventions exhibit and book and it’s editor, which is the only place where some of these false claims are made.

A legend about a man attaching feathers to his arms was presented as the Muslim invention of the hang glider or the airplane

CAMERA OBSCURA
Actually, the camera obscura was invented by the Chinese and used by the ancient Greeks and by the ancient Byzantines.

COPYING FROM THE GREEKS AN INCORRECT EXPLANATION OF THE EYE
The Muslims of the Islamic Golden Age copied their misunderstanding of how the eye worked from the Greeks. They thought the optic nerve connected directly to the lens, and thought the retina had no function.

SURGERY COPIED FROM THE BYZANTINES
The Muslim “father of surgery” copied his surgery (including the use of “catgut” sutures) from the (Christian) Byzantine Empire.

AL-JAZARI ‘S GREATEST INVENTIONS WERE COPIED FROM THE GREEKS, ROMANS, AND BYZANTINES
Most of al-Jazari’s inventions were copied from the Greeks and Romans. His water pumps were nearly identical to but inferior to those of the Romans.

AL-JAZARI’S IMPROVEMENTS TO WATER CLOCKS PLAYED NO ROLE IN THE INVENTION OF PENDULUMS OR MAINSPRINGS
Al-Jazari played no role in the European Christian invention of the verge escapement that made the pendulum clock and the spring clock possible.
However, it can be argued that without the Muslims bringing of the Greek-invented Pseudo Archimedes water clock to Europe, Europeans would not have invented the pendulum clock.
See the footnotes at the bottom of this page for information on al-Jazari’s actual inventions, which mostly were clock inventions.

ASTROLABES WERE INVENTED BY THE GREEKS AND BY CHRISTIANS
The astrolabe was invented by the Greeks.

MUSLIMS DID NOT INVENT THE CRANK
The Chinese and Romans used cranks before Muslims did.

THE BYZANTINES HAD UNIVERSITIES BEFORE THE MUSLIMS FOUNDED “UNIVERSITIES”  THAT TAUGHT ONLY THE QURAN AND SHARIA LAW
The Byzantines had universities and had hospitals with wards and teaching centers before Muslims did.

COFFEE BREWING WAS DONE BY A MUSLIM RULER, BUT THE FRISKY GOAT LEGEND IS FALSE.
Coffee brewing was done at the court of Sadaddin II, who was a 9th century Muslim sultan in southern Ethiopia, before it spread to Sufi monasteries in Yemen. The coffee story of the goat herder is a myth.

THE FRAYED TWIG TOOTHBRUSH USED BY MUSLIMS WAS NOT INVENTED BY THEM
The frayed twig chew stick type of toothbrush used by Muslims was in use since 3000 BC.

THE TOOTHBRUSH WITH BRISTLES WAS A CHINESE INVENTION
Muslims did not use the pig hair and bone toothbrush (invented by the Chinese) that evolved into the modern toothbrush.

MUSLIMS PLAYED NO ROLE IN THE TECHNOLOGY USED IN A BICYCLE
The 1001 Inventions book claims bicycles would not be possible without Muslim-invented gear ratios, but the Roman hodometer distance-traveled measuring “computer” and Greek water clocks in pre-Islamic Alexandria used gear trains with gear ratios before Muslims did.
Chains like those used in bicycles were used in ancient Roman devices for lifting water.

THE ARAB MUSICAL SCALE WAS BORROWED FROM PRE-ISLAMIC PERSIA
The musical scale of Arab Muslim music was borrowed from the dastgah tonal system of pre-Islamic Persia.

OLIVIA STERNS OF CNN WAS DUPED
Olivia Sterns interviewed professor Salim al-Hassani (born in Iraq but was a university professor in England), who is editor of the “1001 Inventions” book, honorary chairman of the Foundation for Science, Technology and Civilisation, and founder of the http://www.MuslimHeritage.com website. http://edition.cnn.com/2010/WORLD/meast/01/29/muslim.inventions/
Claims have been made that these “science” organizations are funded by money from the United Arab Emirates.
Olivia Sterns obviously obtained her information from the 1001 Inventions exhibit and book, which is the only place where some of these false claims were made.

UNESCO AND NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC WERE DUPED
UNESCO and the National Geographic Society are promoters of the “1001 Inventions” touring exhibit.
