In 2015 on the first school day after the anniversary of the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks, 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed in Irving Texas showed to teachers a clock he falsely claimed he built or invented. Actually, the clock has been identified as digital bedroom alarm clock item 63-756 in Radio Shack’s 1986 catalog, manufactured in a factory by Micronta.
Ahmed merely removed the clock from its original case, which required partial disassembly. The alarm clock went off during class, and the police were called.
The liberal media praised the boy and President Obama invited him to the White House.
Ahmed’s father used the publicity to promote his website “proving” that the 9/11 World Trade Center attack was not done by Muslims.

“CLOCK BOY” BOMB SCARE
In 2015 on the first school day after the anniversary of the 9/11 World Trade Center attacks, 14-year-old Ahmed Mohamed in Irving Texas showed to teachers a clock he falsely claimed he built or invented. Actually, the clock has been identified as digital bedroom alarm clock item 63-756 in Radio Shack’s 1986 catalog, manufactured in a factory by Micronta, a subsidiary of Radio Shack. The Micronta alarm clock was similar to the digital alarm clock in the photo above, except the Micronta clock used an earlier generation of discrete electronic components such as NPN or PNP transistors, diodes and resistors instead of a modern integrated circuit.
Ahmed merely removed the clock from its original case, which required partial disassembly. He then soldered the pieces back together to make it look like the ticking bombs in Hollywood movies.

Later that day, the alarm of the clock sounded during English class, causing a panic. The police took Ahmed away in handcuffs and fingerprinted him, school officials accusing the boy of a fake bomb prank intended to cause panic. Police released photographs of the clock.
Liberal and progressive news media proclaimed the boy to be an electronics genius to have built the clock. The media did not hire any electronics experts to examine the photographs to determine whether the clock was manufactured in a factory.
Some suspect that Ahmed’s father planned the incident, hoping that Ahmed would get arrested, so that the school and the police could be sued for a large amount of money.
Later, “Clock Boy” admitted he had used a circuit board built in a factory.
None of the newspapers, television networks, or liberal/progressive websites that distributed false and misleading stories ever issued any retractions or corrections for the errors in their stories.
President Obama praised the boy and invited him to the White House.

This was the third time Ahmed’s father became a worldwide media celebrity complaining about Islamophobia, and he contacted his friends in the liberal media (whom he met in the earlier Islamophobia incidents) to publicize the story. Ahmed’s father used the publicity to promote his website “proving” that the 9/11 World Trade Center attack was not done by Muslims.

The boy’s father and CAIR attempted to sue Irving Texas officials, but the judge ruled that CAIR was attempting to prevent free speech.
